Nearly two centuries of stories live within these walls. Find out what the château has witnessed and why it still stands today.
The Château, originally named Château Haut Montvillers, was built by Count "De Viry," a prominent figure in the French peerage, as a rural retreat dedicated to enjoyment, pleasure and hunting.
One detail has stayed with every guest who discovers it: the portrait of the Count adorns the walls of the castle to this day. As a silent relic of a more opulent era, it watches over every gathering, every candlelight dinner, and every late evening in the grand salon.
If you are a guest at Château Guillermo, consider this a small invitation. Go look for it. Most guests find it before the end of the first evening.

As World War II drew to a close, the château's fate took a dark turn when it fell into the hands of Nazi Germany. The surrounding landscape became a gruesome battleground and witness to one of the most intense and bloody conflicts of the war, known as the Battle of the Bulge. On this sacred ground, the Allies won a crucial victory, forever etching the château's name in the annals of history.
After the defeat of the Germans, ownership of the château changed significantly, passing to a wealthy Parisian bourgeoisie family. In a fascinating glimpse into the past, a photograph captures this moment in history as they pose proudly on the grand staircase in front of the château, marking a new chapter in its glorious legacy.
Edel's father decided to acquire the château in 2009. This decision was nothing short of visionary, but came with challenges. When the château became part of the family, it was in a state of disrepair that reflected its long history. Without heating, running water or electricity, the château was a beautiful but dormant jewel waiting to be awakened from its slumber.
Edel's adventure with the château began with a bold and innovative idea: renting it out in order to generate income for the urgently needed renovation. After years of successfully pursuing this goal, he made a crucial decision in 2023: he bought the château from his father. This marked an important turning point, allowing Edel to devote himself fully to his ambitious renovation project without hesitation, ensuring that the château's legacy continues to thrive.
As a sincere tribute to his father, Guillaume, Edel made the touching decision to name the château "Château Guillermo." This name change stands as a lasting tribute to his father's memory, and ensures that Guillaume's name will forever be linked to the château's rich history.
Together with his wife, Nathalie, and their three children, they now regard this château as more than just property; it has become a cherished part of their lives. Together they have embarked on an endless life project and welcome guests to share in the château's rich history and create their own treasured memories within its walls.
Thank you for being part of this historic adventure and contributing to the ongoing renovations by choosing to stay at Château Guillermo. Your presence helps preserve the legacy and ensures that the splendor of the château will live on for generations to come.
